Westpac NZ to Offer E-Commerce Payment Option
June 2, 2014
A New Zealand financial institution is launching a new service that will enable customers to make purchases directly from e-commerce Websites. Westpac New Zealand, part of the Sydney, Australia-based Westpac Group, expects to introduce Direct From Account by September. The bank has partnered with DPS Payment Express, an Auckland, New Zealand-based gateway provider, to offer the service to its customers.
“When available, Direct From Account will enable customers to purchase goods or services via a merchant’s Website and extends the merchant’s reach to customers who do not have, or prefer not to use, a card online,” the company said. “Once a participating merchant has received online payment confirmation through Direct From Account, they will be able to issue an e-receipt and promptly dispatch goods or provide services. This will eliminate the need for the merchant to manually reconcile payments from bank accounts before providing goods or services.”
