Visa Acquires E-Commerce Loyalty/Payment Platform TrialPay

Visa on Friday announced it has agreed to acquire loyalty platform TrialPay. The Mountain View, Calif.-based company is an e-commerce platform that enables merchants to deliver targeted offers and accept payments for those offers. One way users can “pay” for items offered by TrialPay merchant partners is by trying or buying a product from one of TrialPay’s advertisers. Visa said the company’s technology will enable it to strengthen its offering and build better omnichannel experiences.
“Getting consumer offers right from a timing, location and interest level is critical—and honestly, not terribly easy,” said Ramon Martin, global head of Merchant Solutions for Visa. “TrialPay’s technology helps bridge this gap.”
Visa said it expects the acquisition to be completed during its fiscal third quarter 2015, pending regulatory approvals. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
