U.K. E-Commerce Firm Launches Mobile Acceptance Solution

CreditCall, a U.K.-based e-commerce gateway provider, on Dec. 1 said it will release a fully EMV-compliant solution that will enable merchants to accept payments via BlackBerry and Android smartphones and tablets. CardEase Mobile can process mag stripe and chip-and-PIN transactions using a Bluetooth PIN pad, the company said. CreditCall. “There are a number of card acceptance apps emerging at the moment which are clearly non-compliant with U.K. banking rules, some of which don’t even support chip-and-PIN,” said Pete Alcock, marketing director of CreditCall. “With CardEase Mobile we have done the job properly and engineered the first solution that meets all the current U.K. requirements, so as to protect both cardholders and merchants from fraud, abuse and chargebacks.” The company stressed that no cardholder data is stored on the smartphone or card reader, and all data traffic is encrypted.
