Text2Pay to Offer Bitcoin

June 13, 2013

Direct carrier billing provider Text2Pay said this week it will now enable merchants to accept peer-to-peer digital currencies—most notably, Bitcoins. The virtual currency, which has been gaining popularity because of its low transaction costs for merchants, experienced wild swings in value this spring when increased trading brought the largest Bitcoin exchange to a halt. Mark Reiken, managing director of Text2Pay, however, said digital currencies are ascendant and Bitcoins are the first of many that will emerge over the next decade.

“By offering Bitcoins to merchants, customers will experience faster payment processing, lower fees, and increased security and privacy,” Reiken said. “It’s a currency for the people by the people. They are perfect for online goods and services such as online gaming.”
