Starbucks Will Accept Square Wallet Mobile Payments
Oct. 9, 2012
Starbucks last week offered more details on its partnership with Square that was announced this summer . When the partnership initially was unveiled in August, the only thing the companies had agreed upon was that Square would act as the processor for card payments in the coffee retailer’s U.S. locations. But, at its Global Leadership Conference in Houston last week, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz welcomed Square’s Jack Dorsey to tell attendees that Starbucks customers can pay for their caffeine fix using Square Wallet starting in early November.
Dorsey, CEO of Square said: “This partnership gives millions of Starbucks customers a quick, seamless payment experience and introduces them to hundreds of thousands of small businesses in the Square directory.”
In addition, Starbucks revealed that digital tipping will be available on both Starbucks’ existing mobile app and Square Wallet by the summer of 2013.
