Report from NRF: Canadian Company Unveils Line-Buster App in NYC
Jan. 17, 2013
Digital Retail Apps, a Toronto-based mobile payment company, chose the NRF’s Big Show to make a big splash with its new app that enables retail customers to shop and pay for items in brick-and-mortar locations without waiting in checkout lines. Once consumers have downloaded the SelfPay app on their iPhone or iPad, they can scan any item in a participating store to add it to their shopping cart. Customers check out using a familiar online checkout process and pay with the linked payment card of their choice. The app generates a barcode receipt the retailer can check on the way out the door.
The company said it expects to launch the product during the second quarter of this year with two high-end retailers—a cosmetics store aimed at women and a clothing store specializing in menswear.
