MasterCard Integrates MasterPass with Australian Payment Providers
Aug. 22, 2013
MasterCard unveiled a major online payments initiative in Australia at a conference in Sydney this week when it announced the integration of its MasterPass digital wallet service with 16 major payment providers. Australian e-commerce merchants that use Advam, ANZ, Ashop, BuyReply, Card Access Services, Commonwealth Bank, Ctel, Estar Online, eWAY, IP Payments, Merchant Warrior, NAB, NoQ, Paycorp, Payment Express or Powerfront to process online payments will now be able to offer their customers the option of using MasterPass to pay online.
MasterPass comprises checkout services via online, mobile or at the POS; the ability for banks and merchants to offer their own branded open digital wallets; and value-added services like account balances, real-time alerts, loyalty programs and more. Payment-provider partners in Australia now can offer all of these services to their merchants.
“Having so many technology partners onboard illustrates the increasing consumer demand for digital wallets,” said Matt Barr, head of market development and innovation for Australasia at MasterCard. “MasterPass technology offers shoppers peace of mind that their personal details are safe, as well as a wider selection of payment options and quicker transaction times, which can ultimately translate into increased customer satisfaction and an uplift in sales. We expect that these technology partners are the first wave of many to come onboard.”
