Groupon Acquires Processor Comparison Site
March 26, 2012
FeeFighters, a three-year-old company that helps small businesses compare credit card processors, has been acquired by daily-deals pioneer Groupon. In addition to a comparison tool helping merchants evaluate payments providers, FeeFighters also offers its own online payment gateway, called Samurai.
Groupon has disclosed neither its plans for how it will leverage FeeFighters’ capabilities nor the financial terms of the deal. The deal was revealed on FeeFighters’ corporate blog by its CEO and Co-Founder, Sean Harper.
“It has been three years since we started the company as a hobby and two years since we raised angel money and went full time on the business,” Harper writes in his post. “Our goals have always been to help small businesses run more efficiently, and by teaming up with Groupon, a pioneer in local e-commerce, we are able to execute on that goal even better than we were as an independent company.”
