Getting the m-commerce checkout experience right should be a top priority for merchants heading into the holiday shopping crunch this year. Over the course of the holiday season, more online orders will come via mobile device than ever before, according to Salesforce, the cloud computing giant that owns e-commerce platform Demandware.
For the entire holiday season, 46 percent of online orders will originate on a mobile device. On certain days, including Christmas Eve, more than 70 percent of online orders will come via mobile. And, while Black Friday will remain the single busiest shopping day, 40 percent of all holiday online shopping will happen during the seven-day period beginning on Cyber Monday.
Salesforce also predicts Instagram will drive more traffic to retail e-commerce sites than any other social media platform and that voice shopping will not make an impact this year.
