MCX Chooses FIS as Processor
July 11, 2013
Merchant Customer Exchange (MCX), the merchant-backed mobile payment scheme announced a year ago to compete with Google Wallet and Isis, today unveiled FIS as its processor. Jacksonville, Fla.-based FIS will process point-of-sale transactions using a mobile device for the companies in the MCX network.
MCX launched with much fanfare last August backed by retail heavyweights including Walmart, Target, Dunkin’ Donuts, Lowe’s and 7-Eleven. Today’s announcement by MCX also revealed that Kohl’s Department Stores and the parent company of Circle K convenience stores joined the network’s ranks.
Dodd Roberts, MCX executive said: “A growing list of America’s favorite brands, including Kohl’s, Southwest Airlines, Chili’s Grill & Bar, and so many others, along with our elite technology partners, FIS and Gemalto , are the latest signs of strong momentum as MCX brings a widely accepted, securely delivered and customer-focused mobile payment solution to the marketplace.”
