Ingenico, Intel Partner to Bring Payments to ‘Internet of Things’ Late last week, Ingenico and Intel unveiled a partnership that will facilitate payment in a number of new ways as “The Internet of Things” takes hold. The Internet of Things is the growing network of physical objects connected to the Internet that will enable automation and advanced applications and is expected to generate trillions of dollars in revenue over the next decade. Chip maker Intel and payment technology provider Ingenico have agreed to develop an EMV- and NFC-capable tablet that will pave the way for connected products to accept payments automatically.

“This is a great example of how innovation can simplify the purchasing experience and further enhance the merchant-consumer relationship,” said Philippe Lazare, chairman and CEO of Ingenico Group. “Bringing secure payment into connected devices will root our payment acceptance expertise in the Internet of Things.”

The companies said they will use the tablet as a springboard to work on supplying payments to a broader set of connected devices including intelligent vending machines, kiosks and digital signage.
