CNP Expo Day 1: Surprises, Discoveries & Inspiration
May 24, 2016
The first full day of the CNP Expo in Orlando, Fla. kicked off with an introduction from Steve Casco, founder of CardNotPresent.com and the CNP Expo. Casco welcomed nearly 1,100 attendees to the three-day conference and exhibition at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando with an overview of the card-not-present industry. The morning was highlighted by keynote addresses from Dan Price of Gravity Payments and Arvind Ronta of Discover.
Price joined the conference via video and shared his story—both the positive and negative—that culminated when he made national news a year ago for raising the minimum salary at Gravity to $70,000. Ronta, director and global head of Emerging Products at Discover Network, acknowledged the rising expectations of both merchants and consumers in a world where payments are increasingly digitized and fraud is on the rise.
Fifteen breakout sessions—several detailed below—covered topics including cross-border e-commerce, friendly fraud, account takeover fraud, the state of consumer authentication, the effects of the EMV migration on CNP businesses and more. Tomorrow will feature another full day of breakout sessions, a keynote from a Pulitzer-Prize winning New York Times columnist and the presentation of the 5th Annual CNP Awards.
