BlueSnap this week said it has expanded local acquiring to Canada and Latin America. Being able to operate as a local acquirer means the Waltham, Mass.-based online gateway provider can enable its merchants to accept transactions from consumers in those countries and process the payments locally—in the local currency—without having to rely on third-party processors. BlueSnap said processing locally can save merchants up to 30 percent in Latin America and in Canada, can increase conversion by one third.
“We have worked hard to build the most robust global payments platform for e-commerce merchants to convert more shoppers to buyers,” said Ralph Dangelmaier, CEO of BlueSnap. “We see a big opportunity to leverage our global processing network to solve business needs for traditional e-commerce checkout, B2B invoice payments and emerging marketplace models.”
