WebSpace Implements Jumio Card-Scanning Tech for Magento Merchants

WebSpace Commerce, a developer and consultant for the Magento e-commerce platform, has chosen online and mobile verification technology company Jumio to provide scanning technology that will improve conversion for e-commerce merchants offering their products on mobile devices via the Magento platform. Jumio’s Netswipe product enables consumers to scan payment cards with a smarphone camera for use in e-commerce and mobile transactions. WebSpace Commerce said implementing the technology in the Magento e-commerce platform will enable the platform’s 150,000 merchants to convert 20 percent more visitors to the shopping cart.

“The latest research is showing that while 68 percent of con­sumers are shop­ping via their mobile devices, 66 percent of them are aban­doning these trans­ac­tions because of the mobile shop­ping expe­ri­ence,” said Bjorn Evers, director at Jumio. “Jumio’s Netswipe turns a fiddly mobile checkout expe­ri­ence that takes on average a minute to key in card data and turns it into a slick five-second checkout process. This is just one of the ways that mer­chants can reduce cart aban­don­ment and make more rev­enue from their mobile channel.”
