Visa Europe Tabs Computop to Implement V.me Technology in Germany
June 25, 2015
Visa Europe has chosen German payment service provider Computop to help push adoption of Visa’s V.me digital wallet in Germany. Computop will lead Visa’s effort in Germany to integrate the technology that will enable e-commerce retailers in the country to offer consumers V.me as a payment method. V.me, which was replaced in the U.S. by Visa Checkout , was relaunched as Visa’s primary digital wallet alternative in Europe and began its rollout last month in the U.K. Consumers sign up for V.me through their issuing bank and can pay online with linked credit or debit cards at participating e-commerce sites throughout Europe. During the announcement, Visa Europe executives tabbed the fall of this year to introduce V.me in Germany.
“With Computop, we have found a reliable and experienced partner to successfully implement V.me by Visa in Germany,” said Ulrich Keppler, acceptance development Central Europe for Visa Europe. “We expect our digital wallet to be available to first consumers as a convenient, fast and secure online payment solution by September 2015.”
Visa also said Computop will be involved in the marketing, PR and sales efforts to encourage adoption of V.me in Germany.
