Handbag and accessory manufacturer Vera Bradley yesterday notified customers that its network security was compromised, exposing their payment card information to theft. The Ft. Wayne, Ind.-based company did not disclose how many of its customers may have been affected and said it is still working with a forensic security team to determine the extent of the breach.
Hackers installed malware that hijacked payment card information from cards used at Vera Bradley retail locations between July 25 and September 23 of this year. Investigators said the malicious program gathered track data including card number, cardholder name, expiration date and CVV. The company’s statement said customers of its Website are not at risk.
