U.S. E-Commerce Posts Double-Digit Gains in Q2 2014
Aug. 21, 2014
U.S. retail e-commerce sales during Q2 of this year reached $75 billion, up nearly five percent from Q1 and 15.7 percent from the same three-month period in 2013, according to the Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce.
As usual, the data show e-commerce growth significantly outpacing total retail sales over the same time period. Total retail sales in the second quarter rose 2.3 percent from Q1 and 4.4 percent from Q2 2013 to nearly $1.2 trillion. If you don’t want to do the math, that means from April through June of this year, e-commerce accounted for 6.4 percent of total retail sales.
