Sept. 8, 2011

Two U.K. companies this week said they will launch a product that will enable consumers to conduct Chip & PIN transactions from their homes, essentially turning CNP transactions into less risky card-present transactions. RFI Global Services Ltd, a unit of Underwriters Laboratories and Secure Electrans have signed a strategic agreement to obtain comprehensive regulatory, payment sector and security approval enabling Chip & PIN transactions for the home using the Secure Electrans HomePay system. “RFI occupy a commanding position and great respect within the financial sector for their payments security and certification expertise,” said Chris Jarman, IT and operations director at Secure Electrans. “We believe this will be a crucial milestone in the delivery of our HomePay suite of products to extend the use of secure Chip & PIN payments to the home.”
