Twitter Makes E-Commerce Bid Official Apple isn’t the only Silicon Valley tech giant to confirm a payment rumor this week. After months of indications , Twitter officially acknowledged it is testing a way consumers can buy products from within Tweets using a "Buy Now" button. The company, which had been silent on the rumors since they began in July, said it has partnered with several trending brands and celebrities, which will be able to sell products from within Tweets. Eminem, Pharell, Brad Paisley and Demi Lovato are some of the celebrities who will be pushing merchandise through Twitter’s e-commerce capability. Retail brands that are taking part in the pilot include Home Depot, Beartooth, Fancy and Musictoday. Twitter also acknowledged Stripe in its announcement, confirming the online payment company’s rumored role in the initiative.

"This is an early step in our building functionality into Twitter to make shopping from mobile devices convenient and easy, hopefully even fun," said Tarun Jain, group product manager at Twitter. "Users will get access to offers and merchandise they can’t get anywhere else and can act on them right in the Twitter apps for Android and iOS; sellers will gain a new way to turn the direct relationship they build with their followers into sales"
