Stripe Rolls Out in U.K.

Aug. 19, 2013

After announcing a pilot test last March , online payment method Stripe has rolled its service out nationally in the U.K. The San Francisco-based startup offers virtually the same pricing in the U.K. as it does in the U.S. (2.4 percent plus £.20 per transaction plus the value-added tax (VAT) vs. 2.4 percent plus $.30, respectively).

“We’ve worked hard not to compromise with this expansion. U.K. users get the same instant activation that we provide in the U.S. and Canada,” said Stripe’s Andy Young. “We support all major card types, including American Express. You retain complete control over your payment experience. And, as ever, it’s all covered by simple, flat pricing.”

Young said Stripe is already at work expanding to other countries and is hiring globally.
