Square Integrates with QuickBooks
Sept. 26, 2013
Square and Intuit on Tuesday said they have integrated Square’s mobile card acceptance system with QuickBooks, Intuit’s popular small business accounting software. While Intuit already offers a mobile acceptance platform called GoPayment, the company indicated its goal is to build an open platform for small businesses that other companies can plug their products into, hopefully creating synergies for both parties. Its integration of Square seems to bolster that position.
Under the agreement, for businesses that use QuickBooks and Square, transactions performed using the San Francisco startup’s mPOS system will flow directly into their QuickBooks financial software. Until now, this was a manual process for companies that wanted to use both.
“Square is focused on helping businesses grow,” said Francoise Brougher, business lead at Square. “Our customers tell us often how important it is to have accurate and in-depth information about their business. Integrating with QuickBooks gives sellers another powerful tool to help them run their business more efficiently.”
The integration will occur via API beginning November 19.
