Small Businesses Falling Behind Mobile Consumer
June 17, 2013
More than 80 percent of small and midsize businesses cannot tell if a purchase on their Website was made on a PC or a mobile device, according to a new report from payments processor TransFirst and PCI-compliance technology provider ControlScan. The ControlScan/TransFirst 2013 Mobile Payment Acceptance Survey is a follow up to the first version of the benchmarking survey from 2012 that found e-commerce merchants were not evolving their businesses to capitalize on the growing use of mobile devices by consumers. This year’s survey also found that nearly half of e-commerce merchants know their Websites are not currently optimized for mobile devices and an additional 17 percent say they don’t know or are unsure about their site’s current status.
“The mobile payment survey findings show that small merchants have a real business need to effectively adapt to mobile technology trends,” said Dave Abouchar, senior director of Product Management for payment security and compliance solution provider ControlScan. “Now is the time for ISOs and acquirers to embrace these trends with innovative offerings that guide their merchants toward business growth and increased revenue.”
