Shopify Expands to India, Asia Pacific with SingTel

Canadian e-commerce storefront provider Shopify last week said it partnered with Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) to make its solution available in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and India. In addition to marketing the service to its business customers, SingTel said it is working with payment providers in each country to enable transactions in local currencies by September.
“By 2015, 35 percent of Internet users in the Asia Pacific region will make purchases online, and 30 percent of these transactions will be performed on a mobile device,” said Loo Cheng Chuan, head of Digital Life for SingTel Group. “Shopify is an affordable and fuss-free solution to help entrepreneurs in emerging markets to expand their reach in Asia and beyond. With more than 468 million mobile customers in 25 countries, SingTel is uniquely positioned to enable entrepreneurs to seize opportunities, not just in Singapore, but also in the region.”
