Restaurant ‘Linebuster’ App Adds PayPal as Payment Option

March 8, 2012

Tabbedout, a mobile app that enables consumers to pay restaurant or bar tabs without handing their payment card to a server, has added PayPal as a payment option. Scott Dunlap, PayPal’s vice president of emerging opportunities, confirmed in a blog post that PayPal will be featured this week during SXSW in Austin, Texas. Several establishments near the annual music, film and interactive conference’s venues are supporting payments using the app and Dunlap notes it will mark the first time PayPal has been accepted at bars and restaurants in the U.S.

“Integrating PayPal with Tabbedout is cost effective and time efficient for merchants,” he says. “Tabbedout has built strong software integrations with the majority of key point-of-sale systems such as MICROS, Focus POS, Future POS, POS, Jumpware, Dinerware and Agilysys, so merchants can easily add PayPal as a payment option without purchasing additional hardware.”

The Tabbedout showcase in Austin follows the nationwide rollout of PayPal’s in-store payment system at Home Depot stores as the online payment pioneer tries to break into the brick-and-mortar world.
