Report: Cross-Border, E-Commerce and Mobile Expansion Top Priority of 40% of Businesses
July 1, 2014
If your business isn’t thinking about expanding into global markets and beefing up its digital outreach through e-commerce and mobile, it’s trailing many others, according to a new report. New York City-based Powerlinx, a company that uses its technology platform to help companies find appropriate partners to expand their offering, found cross-border and digital expansion were the primary focus of nearly half of all companies on its platform.
“Businesses aren’t coming to the platform with only a request to find new customers,” said Doron Cohen, founder and CEO of Powerlinx. “Instead they are recognizing that growth comes from setting objectives that are more tangible, and that in most instances they need an external party to help them meet their goals.”
Powerlinx said 40 percent of the nearly 10,000 firms using its platform were doing so to support expansion of their e-commerce or cross-border efforts. Only 12.5 percent said they were seeking partners to diversify their product range or application. The company’s research reflects rapid growth in the B2B online market, which, at nearly $560 billion last year, it estimated to be worth double B2C sales.
