Nov. 12, 2013

Sole proprietorships and small businesses in the U.K. now can offer payment-card acceptance to their customers just by visiting the post office. Thanks to a partnership with London-based acquirer and processor WorldPay, business owners can walk into one of the nearly 12,000 post office locations in the country and arrange for credit- and debit-card acceptance via the Post Office Card Payments service. The post office will offer WorldPay’s processing services to its small business customers, which account for around 3 million visits per week. Whether the business has a store front or is a pure e-commerce play, owners will be able to leverage WorldPay’s merchant services through Post Office Card Payments.”

“The Post Office welcomes over 40 per cent of small businesses through our doors each week and we’re confident this new service will make doing business easier for them, which is a big priority for Post Office,” said Alan Smith, head of payments for the Post Office. “More and more shoppers are paying by card and these new services mean that we can help more small businesses offer this flexibility to their customers.”
