PayPal Offers Australian Merchants Protection from Fraud

PayPal this week announced it has expanded its seller protection policy in Australia, protecting Aussie merchants from liability due to fraud. Effective Oct. 11, PayPal said as long as merchants can provide proof of delivery it will accept financial liability for sellers who have been targeted by fraudulent campaigns. The company hopes the move will persuade more retailers to expand into the online channel.
“They often lack the confidence to sell online due to the fear of fraud,” said Jeff Clementz, managing director of PayPal Australia. “The expanded policy ensures our merchant partners are able to operate with the security and peace of mind necessary to do business both locally and across the globe.”
Some categories of goods do not qualify for the fraud protection including vehicles and digital goods.
