Paydiant Mobile Wallet Enables Cardless ATM Withdrawals

A Massachusetts-based mobile payments provider has teamed up with the largest ATM manufacturer in the U.S. to launch a new service that enables cardless ATM withdrawals. North Canton, Ohio-based Diebold, which has been in business since 1859 and built its first ATM in 1973, has partnered with mobile wallet provider Paydiant to introduce Mobile Cash Access (MCA). Using the MCA cloud-based solution, consumers can “pre-stage” cash withdrawals on their smartphone and, when they get to the machine, they access their cash by scanning a unique QR code that the ATM displays to dispense cash via an encrypted connection to the cloud.
“Our white-label approach continues to gain traction in the marketplace and traditional competitors are coalescing in an ecosystem around Paydiant offerings,” said Chris Gardner, co-founder of Paydiant. “Banks and retailers want to keep their consumers within their own mobile applications for doing things like paying for goods and services or accessing cash, rather than allowing other third parties to come between them and their customer relationships. Paydiant and Diebold are fundamentally aligned on this principle.”
