Partnership Enables Secure Payments via Online Chat

Aug. 29, 2013

Three technology firms have partnered enabling e- and m-commerce merchants to securely take payments through a Website or mobile chat interface, adding another sales channel for online retailers to sell their products. AliveSecure is the result of a collaboration between Website security company SiteLock, online communications software firm WebsiteAlive and antifraud technology provider SecureBuy.

When customers want to make a purchase during an online or mobile chat session, they enter their credit-card information, which is never visible to the chat operator, in a PCI-compliant environment and authenticate the transaction using a form that captures their biometric signature. The companies said the automated solution can reduce staffing costs and research time required to manually investigate fraudulent and suspicious transactions.

Adam Stass, CEO of WebsiteAlive, said: “[We] continuously look for ways to extend the value of online conversations by providing a convenient method for consumers to buy online and an effective sales channel for e-commerce companies. Adding the integration of security and payment processing to online communications is the logical next step for growing e-commerce businesses that protects their customers at the same time.”
