China UnionPay Cards Now Accepted by Vietnamese Online Merchants

May 31, 2012

China UnionPay (CUP) credit cards are now accepted in Vietnam for online payments. International cards account for $10 million in online transactions per month. According to OnePay, CUP’s processing partner in Vietnam, that figure represents only one percent of the total transaction volume of international cards in the country, reflecting the potential of Vietnam’s e-commerce market.

Merchant clients of OnePay in Vietnam will now be able to accept payments and provide services to more than 2.8 billion UnionPay cardholders worldwide. Initially, OnePay says, the online payment function, which launched yesterday, is available for UnionPay cardholders in mainland China.
