Square Hires Goldman Vet as First CFO
June 14, 2012
Square yesterday said it has hired Sarah Friar as its first CFO. The San Francisco-based mobile payments company also disclosed that it is processing $6 billion in transactions on an annualized basis. Friar comes to Square from enterprise cloud computing company Salesforce.com. Prior to that, she spent 10 years as an analyst and business leader for Goldman Sachs.
“Square was founded on a commitment to help people start and grow their business,” said Friar. “I'm thrilled to join a company driving meaningful economic growth while revolutionizing the payment experience for consumers.”
In the past year, Square says it has grown from 80 employees to more than 300 and the company has added top executives from PayPal, Apple and Tesla. Square says its accelerated hiring supports its growing revenue and product offerings and figures in the company's plans for international expansion later this year.
