Pitney Bowes to Enable Online Bill Payment for Consumers

June 25, 2012

Pitney Bowes, the 90-year old company that pioneered the outsourcing of corporate mailroom services, has selected ProfitStars to handle processing and fraud protection for online bill payments in a new service it is offering to consumers later this year called Volley. Stamford, Conn.-based Pitney Bowes says the Volly secure digital delivery service will enable consumers to receive, view, organize, manage, pay and store bills, statements and other content from the companies they do business with. The agreement with ProfitStars calls for the company—a division of payment processor Jack Henry & Associates—to enable ACH and credit card payments for consumers using the system.

“Online bill payment is now an everyday fact of life for tens of millions of consumers in the U.S.,” says Chuck Cordray, president of Volly. “Integrating this feature into the Volly service right up front will make it an appealing alternative to the current, fragmented process most people use to receive, store and pay their bills.”

Pitney Bowes says since it introduced Volly to the mailing industry in 2011, it has been adopted by more than 40 large mailers representing more than 5,000 companies and consumer brands, and more than five billion bills per year.
