NCR Launches Mobile Payment App for Restaurants

NCR Corporation has joined the growing list of companies offering mobile payment apps combined with added features that deliver more value to merchants. The 125-year-old company that introduced the cash register has launched a mobile solution—integrated with its NCR Aloha POS system—that enables diners to access and pay their check, designate “favorite” menu items, alert a server or post a review to a social media site.

Users can access their check, and the other features of NCR Mobile Pay, on their mobile devices by scanning a QR code supplied by their server. The company said payment details are encrypted and the transaction is securely processed by a cloud-based system.

“We want restaurant patrons to have the best experience possible while dining. NCR Mobile Pay is the newest way we do that. Review your order, add to it, take a survey, tip and pay. We’ve put all of those abilities in the consumer’s control,” said Mike Finley, vice president and chief technology officer of hosted solutions for NCR Hospitality. “With NCR Mobile Pay, consumers take action instead of waiting.”
