Mobile Parking App to Accept PayPal Payments

Nov. 8, 2012

Parkmobile, a mobile payment app that enables four million drivers in 350 cities around the world to pay for parking using a mobile device, yesterday added PayPal as a payment method in 20 U.S. cities. PayPal announced the partnership yesterday on its corporate blog, indicating that, once a consumer has linked their PayPal account, the app enables one-touch payments at all parking spaces displaying the green Parkmobile sign.

“PayPal has a history of partnering with mobile disruptors who bring value to consumers in their everyday life,” said Randall Davies, head of global business development at PayPal. “We’re thrilled to partner with Parkmobile to help take some of the pain out of parking.”

In addition to payment, the app sends out an alert when a user has 15 minutes left on the meter with the option to extend the time. The companies did not disclose in which U.S. cities they are making the PayPal payment option available.
