Mobile Interactive Group Acquires Zaypay

Sept. 21, 2011

Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) has acquired Dutch mobile payments startup Zaypay. MIG said it will continue to operate Zaypay as a standalone business and did not disclose financial terms of the agreement, other than to reveal that it was an all-cash deal. Zaypay enables third-party developers to process international micropayments through SMS, phone calls, in-app and other alternative payment methods. Mobile Interactive Group CEO and Founder Barry Houlihan said: “MIG’s vision for Zaypay is to build a one-stop shop for online and mobile monetization solutions to merchants, online billing providers and developers globally.” This is MIG’s third acquisition since June 2010 having acquired CRM provider Piri Limited and mobile technology, services and marketing company Golden Bytes International. The company said the acquisition of Zaypay, which was founded in 2006 and is currently operational in 44 countries, closed in August.
