MasterCard to Explore Mobile Payments in U.K. with Everything Everywhere
Aug. 30, 2012
MasterCard this week said it has partnered with U.K. mobile and broadband communication provider Everything Everywhere to develop mobile and digital payment solutions. The five-year deal initially will focus on contactless payments at the POS, but also will encompass P2P transfers, loyalty and rewards and services addressing the convergence of in-store, online and mobile commerce.
“Working with MasterCard is an important step in making mobile contactless payments more widely available for our 27 million customers,” said Gerry McQuade, chief marketing officer at Everything Everywhere. “By moving our existing co-branded card offers onto mobile devices, we are closer to a world where our customers will be able to use their phone to pay for travel to work, pay for small purchases and take advantage of loyalty rewards from their favorite retail outlets.”
