Kount Garners Proxy-Piercing Patent

Sept. 3, 2013

Antifraud technology provider Kount has secured another U.S. patent its merchant clients can use to root out online fraud. The patent, its fifth granted in 2013 and the 28 th overall for the Boise, Idaho-based company, describes a process for “Detecting Online Fraud by Proxy Piercing to Identify Address of a User Device Involved in an Online Transaction.” The company said the patented process is an antidote to fraudsters who use a proxy to hide the IP address of the device they are actually using during fraudulent transactions.

“This patent reflects Kount’s continued efforts to develop technology that protects businesses from the impact of fraudulent transactions online,” said Kount CEO, Brad Wiskirchen. “Our patents, including this latest one on proxy piercing, indicate the strength of our solution and Kount’s role as the leader in fighting fraud.”
