Kalixa Acquires PXP Solutions
May 29, 2014
Kalixa, a London-based PSP with roots in the online gambling industry, on Tuesday acquired card processor PXP Solutions. Kalixa started life more than a decade ago as the payments unit of online gambling giant Bwin, but was spun off as its own payments company a year ago. The company offers a prepaid e-wallet, an mPOS solution for small businesses and an e-commerce platform. The acquisition of U.K.-based PXP Solutions enables in-store payment acceptance, which the company said turns Kalixa into a “one-stop-shop” with one integrated platform enabling payments from any device through any channel.
According to a press release, post-acquisition, Kalixa has become “one of the world’s top five payment service providers, based on capability and range of payment options.”
“With the acquisition of PXP, we’ve created a world-class payments company with an unrivalled portfolio across the entire payments value chain,” said Kalixa CEO Ed Chandler. “Kalixa now has the scale and breadth of services, as well as the expertise and insight, to disrupt the global payments market and deliver a significant amount of added value to our merchants.”
Chandler said the company will initially focus on offering its mPOS and prepaid e-wallet to PXP’s portfolio of merchants in 27 countries. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
