Home Chip-and-PIN Reader for Internet Transactions Certified by American Express

April 24, 2012

Secure Electrans, a U.K.-based payments technology company, says its in-home Chip-and-PIN card reader has been accredited by American Express. While the EMV standard has reduced card fraud in the countries where it has been implemented, card-not-present fraud, especially in e-commerce transactions, still represents the highest share of fraudulent transactions .

The company worked closely with American Express to ensure that HomePay is fully compliant with their requirements for EMV Chip-and-PIN transaction processing, messaging and payment security, according to Secure Electrans’ managing director, Chris Jarman. American Express, he says, has strict requirements for accreditation, which HomePay has succeeded in meeting “without any qualification or equivocation.”
