March 21, 2016
New Jersey-based payments processor Heartland Payment Systems last week announced an agreement with German PSP Computop that enables Heartland’s U.S. merchants to expand more easily into cross-border e-commerce. Heartland said the integration of its Portico gateway with Computop’s Paygate platform will provide secure e-commerce payment processing in international markets, antifraud technology and the ability to accept local currencies.
“[Computop’s] strong functionality and security, combined with the breadth of payment methods that Computop Paygate offers for Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific regions, will serve our customers well as they expand their businesses internationally,” said Joe Wysocki, senior director of e-commerce for Heartland. “They can rest assured that their global payment processing needs can be easily satisfied through this collaboration with Computop.”
Major U.S. payment processors either acquiring or partnering with international payment service providers is becoming increasingly important as cross-border e-commerce expands globally. This year’s CNP Expo in May has multiple sessions focused on cross-border e-commerce in different regions and what it takes to operate there.
