Flint Mobile Named Apple Mobility Partner, Enables Coupon Distribution Directly to Apple Wallet
Aug. 6, 2015
Flint Mobile, a Redwood City, Calif.-based company that enables businesses to accept credit cards on a mobile device using scanning technology rather than a plug-in dongle, this week announced it has been added as an official mobility partner by Apple. At the same time, Flint unveiled the newest version of its app that enables small businesses to deliver coupons to iOS users via text message that they can import directly into Apple Wallet (formerly Passbook) to keep until they need them. The small business then can redeem the coupon using a QR reader built into the Flint app.
The new feature is part of the Flint app that led to the company being chosen as an Apple mobility partner. Greg Goldfarb, co-founder and CEO of Flint Mobile, explained that the company is one of around 40 chosen by Apple to deliver innovation to small businesses that leverage iOS and that Flint technology could be incorporated in various efforts.
“We’ve got a number of different things we’re working on to drive an interesting iOS road map going forward,” Goldfarb said. “There are a whole host of business SaaS apps that started on the Web and have become more mobile centric. As they’ve done that they are getting closer to customers and when they get closer to customers if they have the opportunity to get paid now versus later, they like that.”
