Firms Tackle Mobile Conversion with Universal Wallet
June 10, 2013
Cleveland-based CardinalCommerce announced it has partnered with Unbound Commerce of Boston to offer online merchants a way to accept any kind of cloud-based digital wallet their customers wish to use. The Cloud Wallet Service will support Amazon, Google Wallet, MasterPass by MasterCard, Payfone One Touch Checkout on Verizon devices, PayPal, Sprint Mobile Wallet and V.me by Visa upon its introduction. The companies partnered on the initiative to combat low conversion rates for mobile-commerce purchases.
“Mobile can be the linchpin to retailers’ omnichannel strategy,” said Keith Lietzki, vice president and co-founder of Unbound Commerce. “Mobile is often non-transactional when it is used to support other channels. But when the consumer has the impulse to purchase, the retailer must make the mobile purchase as quick as possible. Cardinal was an obvious partner for us once we understood the scope of their transactional capabilities. They have taken a big lead in support for this powerful new class of online wallets.”
The companies said they expect the service, which will launch in beta phase in July, to increase revenue for online and mobile merchants by 20 to 40 percent when they can accept the cloud-based wallet that works best for their individual customers.
