February E-Commerce Sales Show Strong Year-Over-Year Growth

U.S. online and mobile e-commerce transactions were on the rise again in February, according to Department of Commerce statistics and e-commerce analytics company Custora. Revenue from e-commerce transactions during February were up 10 percent over the same month in 2013. Transactions during the same period rose 12 percent year-over-year. The company also said a small increase (1 percent) in average order value shows e-commerce merchants did not have to resort to discounts and promotions to achieve higher sales revenue.
The Custora Pulse also indicated growth in mobile e-commerce continues to be strong. The share of online commerce performed on mobile phones in February rose from 14 percent in 2013 to 19.5 percent this year, a 45 percent increase.
The Custora Pulse tracks data from more than 100 e-commerce retailers and 70 million shoppers.
