Discover, Computop Partner for International E-Commerce Acceptance
April 25, 2016
Discover hopes to increase online international acceptance of its cards through a new agreement with Computop. Late last week, Discover subsidiary Diners Club International unveiled a partnership under which merchant clients of the German payment service provider now can accept Discover, Diners Club and Alliance Partner cards for e-commerce transactions. Computop merchants serving the travel, hospitality and retail industries, among others, also will have access to ProtectBuy, Discover’s 3D Secure authentication service.
“We’ve seen significant growth in e-commerce across the Discover Global Network and remain focused on meeting the evolving needs of our cardholders by growing digital acceptance and maintaining the highest levels of card security,” said Ricardo Leite, vice president of Discover Global Network. “Computop’s international merchant base is a great fit for our cardholders, especially in Germany and throughout Europe, and further expands our global payment network.”
As Discover seeks more acceptance in international markets, the company also is delving deeper into the new realities of e-commerce on its home turf. In a keynote address this May at the CNP Expo , Discover’s Global Head of Emerging Products Arvind Ronta will examine how companies are using data to create the next generation of e-commerce while navigating authentication challenges and fraud prevention in an environment where consumers increasingly transact online via mobile devices.
