Biometrics: Something You Are, Something to Learn – A CNP Expo Session Spotlight
April 30, 2015
As fraud continues to become more sophisticated, the way we verify identities needs to adapt. While validating personal identifiers such as name, address, e-mail and even social network activity is important, it’s information that fraudsters can replicate. It also can take time, negatively affecting the customer experience.
An emerging method of establishing customer identity is to require biometric confirmation at the time of account creation and log in. The types of biometrics used by merchants and banks can range from fingerprints to retina scans, with new options being created at a rapid pace. While the use of biometrics is still at an early stage, the potential benefits make these technologies important to consider.
During a special panel at the 2015 CNP Expo, experts familiar with biometrics from the Federal Reserve and companies like ValidSoft and FitPay will discuss recent developments and advanced authentication technologies and how these tools are being used in card-not-present environments. They will also share examples of how merchants and banks have used this technology to prevent fraud and enhance the overall customer experience, to help merchants determine if implementation would make sense for particular business models.
Join this session and many more at the 2015 CNP Expo, May 18-21 in Orlando, Fla., where you will get 40 hours of professional training directly benefitting your business. Click here to register .
