Barclaycard to Launch E-Commerce Processing Service

July 8, 2010

Barclaycard, a London-based payments provider, announced it will launch SmartPay, a payment processing system that will help e-commerce providers manage cross-border payments, later this summer.  The company said SmartPay, which was piloted during the first few months of 2010, will give organizations access to a single payment processing system that can be used across a range of language and currencies. “Barclaycard SmartPay will make it easy for businesses which operate across the EU to accept all types of payments online,” said Paul Cook, managing director of global payment acceptance at Barclaycard. The company said it will target SmartPay at merchants in key online sectors such as gaming, retail and travel.
