Bango, Microsoft Launch Direct-Carrier Billing in Indonesia
July 1, 2013
Mobile payments provider Bango has partnered with Microsoft to offer direct-carrier billing to Windows Phone Store customers in Indonesia. Indosat subscribers in the country now can download apps for their Windows phones and charge the purchases to their mobile phone bill. Microsoft, which conducted research on the matter, found operator billing, when offered, is preferred by 75 percent of Windows Phone users who have access to it and drives more than double the number of paid downloads compared to credit-card billing. Specifically regarding Indonesia, Bango said 90 percent of the market uses direct-carrier billing.
“Mobile-operator billing gives consumers a convenient payment option with significantly higher conversion rates than credit cards, greatly benefiting Windows Phone 8 customers and developers,” said Todd Brix, general manager of Windows Phone Store for Microsoft. “We’re happy to see companies like Bango and Indosat working together to expand monetization opportunities for developers and provide seamless purchasing experiences for Windows Phone users.”
