Ancient Market Informs New Name for Alternative E-Commerce Payments Processor
Oct. 4, 2010
Moneta, an Atlanta based alternative payments processor for online transactions, said it is changing the company’s name to Rialto Commerce. The company said the new name for one of the newest ways to conduct commerce alludes to one of the oldest. “The term ‘Rialto’ has historical significance as it pays tribute to the well-known Rialto Bridge market in Venice, Italy—one of the world’s oldest trade markets for merchants, financiers and discerning buyers,” said Carol Kleywegt, vice president of marketing for Rialto Commerce. “The name Rialto Commerce underscores our plans to mirror the market’s role as a central facilitator for e-commerce transactions.” According to the renamed company, it also will rebrand its flagship product—an online payment wallet that enables consumer to pay using their bank accounts—as Rialto Pay. The company said Rialto Pay drives incremental e-commerce revenue for both banks and merchants. “Through Rialto Pay, merchants market products to premium bank-qualified consumers while banks provide their customers with more online payment choices.” Rialto said it will begin migration of its merchant partners’ Websites to a new payment button immediately and will continue the process through the end of this year. Shoebuy.com, Stacks and Stacks and Delta Air Lines are some of the merchants that have integrated Rialto Pay on their Websites.
