Amica Chooses Semafone for PCI-Compliant Call-Center Payments
Jan. 23, 2014
Amica, one of the largest U.S. insurers, has chosen U.K.-based payments company Semafone to enable the insurance company to accept PCI-compliant payments over the telephone. Semafone’s technology lets retailers and other businesses that accept payments via phone do so without ever asking for or handling payment-card details. Customers that need to make a payment over the phone key in their number, which is sent directly to the payment processor, taking the merchant out of scope.
“Amica’s mission is to create peace of mind and build enduring relationships with our policyholders so providing exceptional service is our number one priority,” said Gil Bishop, information security officer at Amica. “Semafone’s solution gives us the ability to proactively deliver the best possible service to our customers, while protecting them at the same time.”
The implementation with Amica is the company’s third with a major insurer, according to Stu Carty, vice president of sales for North America at Semafone. Canadian company Aviva and U.K. insurer AXA also use Semafone’s technology in their call centers.
