AisleBuyer Puts Mobile Checkout Technology in Supermarket

Nov. 7, 2011

AisleBuyer , a Boston-based technology company that enables mobile self-checkout within brick and mortar retail locations, said its application today has gone live with its first grocery chain. Big Y, a supermarket chain based in Springfield, Mass with nearly 60 stores in Massachusetts and Connecticut, has implemented a mobile app powered by AisleBuyer that will enable consumers to access information and special offers on Big Y products while shopping in the stores and redeem those offers and pay for their groceries without standing in checkout lines. The company said it began pulling self-checkout machines out of Big Y stores in October so it could concentrate more on service. The AisleBuyer app is an attempt to use technology to solve the waiting-time problems self-checkout machines could not.
